Published: January 28, 2013

There's just a few hours left for candidates to file for the 1st Congressional District seat.

Filing closes at 12 p.m. today for the seat, which was vacated when former Congressman Tim Scott was appointed to the Senate.

The crowded field includes former Gov. Mark Sanford, state Sen. Larry Grooms and Teddy Turner -- the son of Ted Turner -- among other Republican candidates.

Three Democrats have joined the race, including Elizabeth Colbert-Busch, the sister of comedian and Charleston native Stephen Colbert.

Primaries will be held March 19.

Check back with The Island Packet and Beaufort Gazette later today for an update on who's running and how the race is shaping up. To read about who has already entered the race, check .
