BOYS BASKETBALL

Beaufort High 67, Estill 66: Jawan Mack finished with 19 points, and Martin Washington sank a 3-pointer with a minute to play that gave the Beaufort High School boys basketball team the lead for good Saturday night in a 67-66 win over Estill.

Kendrick Colvin added 14 points for Beaufort High (12-6, 3-3 Region 8-AAAA).

Beaufort High hits the road for a pair of games in the upcoming week, starting Tuesday at Summerville. The Eagles play at Ashley Ridge on Friday.

First Baptist 42, Hilton Head Christian Academy 38: The Eagles found themselves down by 11 points at halftime in Charleston, but rallied to cut the deficit to three points with less than a minute left before falling.

"They executed when it counted," Hilton Head Christian coach Mac Tamminen said of First Baptist, which was led by Brad Allen's 20 points and Dayquan Ancrum's 14.

Brad Meccariello had a team-high 16 points for Hilton Head Christian (9-10 overall, 2-4 SCISAA Region 3-AAA), and Zach Polk added 10.

The Eagles play at Hilton Head Prep at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Middle school: Riverview Charter 33, Beaufort Academy 21 (Thursday)

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Estill 42, Beaufort High 35: Beaufort High scored 16 points in the final four minutes to come roaring back, but ran out of time.

Laticia Garvin finished with 24 points for Estill, which had a 26-11 lead at halftime.

Jordan Fields scored 10 points to lead Beaufort High (1-18).

Regina Bolden hauled down 20 rebounds, Monique Jones had 12 rebounds, and Jimesha Mitchell scored eight points for the Eagles, who play at Summerville on Tuesday.

Hilton Head Christian Academy 34, First Baptist 33 (OT): Andy Anderson hit a free throw with six seconds remaining in overtime, and First Baptist missed a shot at the buzzer to give the Eagles the victory.

Audrey Bensch scored 10 points to lead Hilton Head Christian (14-9 overall, 3-3 SCISAA Region 3-AAA). Ziarre Doe had nine points, Macee Tamminen scored eight and Francesca Guidobono added five in the win.

Hilton Head Christian and First Baptist square off again Friday on Hilton Head Island.
