Hilton Head bank employee arrested for peeping

Published: January 24, 2013

An employee of PNC Bank on Office Way turned himself in this morning after a co-worker reported him for spying on women in the bathroom at his workplace, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

Richard Aaron Hayes, 27, was charged with voyeurism following an investigation that began with the discovery of a ladder in the men’s restroom, which adjoins the bank’s ladies’ restroom.

An employee noticed the ladder during a security walk-through at the bank, and then took note of odd behavior by Hayes —particularly that he would go to the men’s restroom each time a woman walked into the ladies’, according to a news release.

Hayes allegedly climbed the ladder to look through a hole in the ceiling tile above a toilet in the ladies’ restroom. The release said Hayes, a teller supervisor, may have been peeping for several months on his female co-workers and bank customers.
