Why is it that the news media will jump all over a story without much research, such as the one about Notre Dame football player Manti Te'o's lying about his private life?

All while not reporting or investigating the validity of the lies our politicians regularly feed us to forward their positions or cover their mistakes.

It may be that the press feeds us all the news that they want us to know.
