An arrest has been made in a recent armed robbery case on Hilton Head Island.
Bluffton resident Dwan Valentino Doe, 41, was arrested following a brief pursuit early this morning.
Doe was wanted on charges of armed robbery and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime -- both related to an Jan. 19 armed robbery of a 31-year-old man on Lemoyne Avenue near the Treetops apartments.
Just after 1 a.m. Wednesday, sheriff's deputies spotted Doe in his vehicle near U.S. Highway 278 and New Orleans Road. Doe refused to stop, and lead deputies on a brief chase, according a to news release from the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
Doe headed toward Folly Field Beach Park, where he ran his vehicle into a chain blocking the parking lot. He ran from his vehicle, but was quickly caught -- with about 4.5 grams of crack cocaine.
In addition to the armed robbery charges, Doe was also charged with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, fleeing to evade arrest/detention, and failure to stop for blue lights.
He was transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center without further incident.
