A 31-year-old man says he was robbed by a man armed with a pistol and a tire iron Saturday on Hilton Head Island, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

Warrants have been issued for 41-year-old Dwan Valentino Doe, a news release said.

Deputies met with the victim near the Treetops apartments on the island's south end at about 2 a.m. Saturday, just after the robbery. The victim said a stranger approached at the Kangaroo Express convenience store and tried to persuade him to go "meet some girls," according to the release.

The victim drove away but noticed a vehicle following closely. The victim pulled into Lemoyne Drive and got out of the car, where the man from the store approached with a tire iron, frisked him and took his wallet, the release said.

The suspect then pointed a pistol at the victim's head and took cash from the wallet before leaving in a small, black pickup truck.

Doe is wanted on charges of armed robbery and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. His whereabouts are unknown.
