Beaufort County school board meetings to be held in Bluffton

Published: January 22, 2013

The Beaufort County Board of Education has moved its Feb. 19th meeting from the Hilton Head Island branch library to the Bluffton library.
Upcoming renovations at the Hilton Head library prompted the change, according to the school district.
The board decided earlier this month to hold half of its meetings in the southern part of the county.
Board Chairman Bill Evans said in a news release that he hoped meetings in southern Beaufort County might eventually alternate between the Hilton Head and Bluffton libraries.
The board meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 6 p.m. Each month's first board meeting will continue to be held in Beaufort County Council Chambers, and the second meeting of each month will now be held at the Bluffton library.
"We know it's hard for people who live in Hilton Head or Bluffton to drive to Beaufort for meetings on a weeknight, and we're firmly committed to holding half of them in the southern part of the county," Evans said in the district news release.
All board meetings will still be available for live viewing on the Beaufort County Channel, and past meetings will still be archived on the County Channel's website.
