Don't omit Hollywood in gun violence debate

Published: January 21, 2013

I have to question one glaring omission in President Barack Obama's 23 executive orders to address the gun violence issue, and it sure smells like a rat.

The one omission I am talking about is the lack of action toward the Hollywood entertainment industry, which promotes gun violence through its questionable products.

Well, here's the "stinker." Just guess who is now chairman and CEO of the Motion Picture Association of America, the group that outspends the National Rifle Association in Washington by a large margin. It is none other than the former Democratic senator from Connecticut, Chris Dodd of Dodd-Frank fame. The same Dodd, who along with his friend Barney Frank, had nothing to do with the subprime mortgage debacle.

The president sure has a proven track record for rewarding his backers. As they say on ESPN's NFL coverage, "Come on, man."
