Bluffton High School: The Bluffton High School wrestling team, in its final team tournament of the regular season, brought home the championship Saturday from Heathwood Hall's Highlander Duals.
The Bobcats (12-5) went 5-0 on the day, defeating White Knoll in the title matchup, 42-24. Bluffton beat Mauldin in the semifinals, 48-21. The Bobcats also had wins over Charlotte Christian (60-12), Irmo (49-25) and Mitchell, N.C. (42-36).
"It's the absolute best we've wrestled collectively, as a team," said Bobcats coach John Hollman. "This was a big showing for us. This was the first time all year we've had our full lineup."
The Bobcats had four wrestlers go 5-0 on the day: Nick Stead (106 pounds), Levi Joly (113), Talon Seitz (132) and Mike Meyerink (152). Going 4-1 for Bluffton were Alex Waddell (145) and Harry Chirinos (160).
The Bobcats wrap up their Region 8-AAAA schedule at 7 p.m. Wednesday, hosting Colleton County for senior night.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Hilton Head Christian 59, Ashley Hall 37: Ziarre Doe scored 24 points and Macee Tamminen added 18 to lead the Eagles to an easy win.
Hilton Head Christian (11-8) jumped out to a 20-point lead by halftime and cruised from there.
Andy Anderson finished with eight points and Audrey Bensch contributed five for the Eagles, who host Memorial Day at 2 p.m. Monday.
