Comedian Stephen Colbert’s sister enters congressional race

Comedian Stephen Colbert's sister is running in earnest for the 1st congressional seat.

Elizabeth Colbert-Bush will file next week as a Democrat and make a formal announcement, according to her campaign manager.

The Charleston native is development director at the Clemson University Restoration Institute in North Charleston.

A second Democrat, Martin Skelly, a Charleston County businessman, also announced Friday that he is running in the special election and will put $250,000 of his own money into his run.

The primaries are March 19, runoffs will be April 2, and the special election is May 7.
