A Bluffton man wanted for the sexual assault of a child was arrested this morning on Hilton Head Island, the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office says.

Ruben Nieto-Banda, 30, was arrested when he turned himself into investigators. Banda was wanted on one count of criminal sexual conduct with a minor -- a 7-year-old female -- alleged to have occurred Jan. 5 at a Baywood home.

Banda is accused of inappropriately touching the child while she was at the home visiting a friend, according to a Sheriff's Office news release. The incident was reported the following day upon her disclosure to family members.

On Thursday, the Sheriff's Office had issued a news release saying Banda had arranged to turn himself in earlier in the week but did not show up at the appointed time.
