Free and discounted legal services help Lowcountry families cope with custody disputes, children with special needs and property matters, and United Way of the Lowcountry is a key partner with Lowcountry Legal Volunteers.
The United Way of the Lowcountry board of directors announced Thursday the organization has received more than $2.2 million in gifts and pledges as part of its annual fundraising campaign, putting it 80 percent of the way toward its goal.
As the campaign enters its final weeks, United Way leaders urge anyone with a pledge card on their desk to return it as soon as possible. And they remind them that their donations help fund organizations such as Lowcountry Legal Volunteers -- for example, a $25 gift can provide one-half hour of legal services.
