A 22-year-old Beaufort man was arrested Wednesday on a felony charge of using a stolen credit card after he allegedly ran into his house to try to hide.

Beaufort police say they have been searching for Raheem Daurice Simmons since last February, when he was allegedly seen on a surveillance camera using a credit card reported stolen from a vehicle.

An officer saw Simmons on Harrington Street on Wednesday and tried to talk to him, but Simmons ran into his home. More officers were called, and Simmons was found hiding in a closet, police said.

He is in the Beaufort County Detention Center on charges of stealing a financial-transaction card and obtaining goods under false pretenses.
