A water main break in Hilton Head Plantation has blocked traffic today on Seabrook Drive near the Spring Lake Recreation Area.

The road is closed between Whooping Crane Way and the entrance to the Plantation House while Hilton Head Public Service District staff works on the line break.

Part of the road near the break is unsafe, according to a release from the Property Owners’ Association.

The area will most likely be closed for repairs for at least a day, according to the release.

Vehicles may still access the recreation area and Plantation House via the main entrance of the Plantation House. Vehicles traveling north on Whooping Crane Way should use High Bluff Road as an alternate route to get to Dolphin Head Drive and Seabrook Drive south of the Wye.
