School council earns state recognition

Okatie Elementary's School Improvement Council has joined eight other schools on the state's honor roll.

The groups earned a spot on the list for their efforts to increase engagement in public education.

Three of the nine honorees will compete for the annual Dick and Tunky Riley Award for School Improvement Council Excellence. That award will be announced in March. Last year, the council from Port Royal Elementary School made the finals.
