Navy Seaman Kristen T. Shelton, daughter of Theresa M. Baughman of Bluffton and Anthony M. Shelton of Bellville, Ohio, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.

During the eight-week program, Shelton completed a variety of training, including classroom study and practical instruction about naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

Shelton is a 2012 graduate of Clear Fork Valley High School in Bellville.
