The Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park is about to add a new feature -- one that will honor 300 years of Beaufort history with bite-sized history lessons. The tricentennial memorial will be made up of fourteen granite blocks with bronze plates set between a circle of palmetto trees. The memorial was paid for with proceeds from the Beaufort 300 campaign, in which more than 300 people, businesses and organizations donated at least $300 each. The names of the benefactors, a public unveiling and ceremony will be held at the site on Jan. 20 at 2 p.m.
