Deputies arrested an 18-year-old man on Hilton Head Island this afternoon for the murder of a 19-year-old acquaintance in December, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

Ja’quard Qu’vonte Aiken was arrested and charged at his Aiken Road home for fatally shooting Cesar Reyna-Reyna on Dec. 12, a news release said.

Investigators found a shotgun in a wooded area near where Reyna-Reyna was killed in his front yard on Marshland Road. Forensic evidence linked Aiken to the murder weapon, the release said.

“They were acquaintances, but we do not know the motive for them being together or for the shooting,” spokeswoman Sgt. Robin McIntosh said.

Aiken also faces one charge of possessing a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

Investigators don’t believe there are more suspects involved but the investigation is ongoing as they seek a reason for the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to contact either SSgt. B. Chapman at 843-255-3417 or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC (247-6372).
