Ridgeland man accused of shooting brother

A 35-year-old Ridgeland man is accused of shooting his brother in the wrist after an argument Sunday.

The Jasper County Sheriff's Office was called at 2 a.m. to the intersection of Captain Bill and Fordsville roads near Ridgeland.. They found a 31-year-old man with a wrist wound, according to a news release. The victim said his brother, Jerrod Lamar Spann, shot him.

Deputies searched for Spann for about 45 minutes and found him hiding behind a house off Captain Bill Road, the release said. Spann was charged with attempted murder and remained in the Jasper County Detention Center on Thursday awaiting a bond hearing.

The victim was treated at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah and released. The Sheriff's Office continues to investigate.
