Prep Roundup, Jan. 3: Whale Branch basketball teams take two from Wade Hampton

BOYS BASKETBALL

Whale Branch 65, Wade Hampton 41: Dee Delaney tallied 16 points, eight rebounds, four steals and three assists to help the Whale Branch Early College High School boys basketball team pull away from Wade Hampton.

Michael Middleton added 11 points, eight rebounds and three steals for the Warriors (10-2), who led by just three points at halftime but reeled off a 19-5 run during the third quarter to break away from the Red Devils.

Jay Abney chipped in with eight points and four rebounds, Simeon Middleton had six points and four assists, and CJ Jiles finished with six points for Whale Branch, which plays at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Branchville.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Whale Branch 60, Wade Hampton 34: Sharrin Reed scored 22 points and Kemoni Jenkins had 21 to help Whale Branch's girls roll past visiting Wade Hampton.

Jenkins also had six steals and three assists, and Reed came away with three steals for the Warriors (9-3). S'Nitra Mack added seven points, 10 rebounds and three steals, and Jonae Riley finished with five points for Whale Branch, which is off until Jan. 11 at Estill.
