A man was charged with felony drug possession and criminal domestic violence after barricading himself, a woman and three children in his Beaufort-area mobile home for four hours Friday morning.

Beaufort County sheriff's deputies responded to a 911 hang-up call at 5:10 a.m. at Lot 37 in Laurel Village mobile home park off Shanklin Road.

When they arrived, Frank Jabbar Holmes III , 28, slammed the door and refused to open it or speak with officers, according to Sgt. Robin McIntosh. Deputies could hear yelling and crying from inside the home, and the Sheriff's Office SWAT and hostage negotiations teams were dispatched.

Holmes' 26-year-old girlfriend and her three children -- a 3-month-old, 1-year-old and 9-year-old -- were also in the home, McIntosh said.

Deputies made contact with Holmes at about 9:10 a.m. He agreed to leave the home and was arrested without incident.

Drug paraphernalia and small amounts of crack cocaine and marijuana were found inside. Holmes' girlfriend had minor facial injuries from being assaulted by him, McIntosh said, but the children were unharmed. The woman will not face charges, McIntosh said.

Holmes was charged with felony possession of crack cocaine, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and criminal domestic violence. As of Friday night, he was in the Beaufort County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
