Officers with the Bluffton Police Department mark the scene of an accident after a bicyclist was hit by a vehicle Friday afternoon at the intersection of Buck Island Road and Bluffton Parkway.

Bluffton police officers mark the scene of an accident Friday afternoon after a bicyclist was hit by a truck at the intersection of Buck Island Road and Bluffton Parkway. Police said Davon Polite was biking west in the eastbound lane of the parkway and rode in front of a 2004 Ford truck stopped on Buck Island road as the traffic light turned green. Polite was taken to Hilton Head Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and given a citation for failure to ride on the right side of the roadway. The truck's driver, Hugo Toledo, was issued a citation for driving without a license, according to police.
