Goodwill distributes gift bags to seniors

Goodwill Industries of Lower South Carolina distributed gift bags to 353 disadvantaged elderly people in Beaufort and Colleton counties this holiday season through its 13th Annual Golden Angel Tree Program.

"With so many wonderful programs dedicated to the children in our community, we made the decision several years ago to shift our focus to another group in need that is often overlooked -- our disadvantaged seniors," said Tina Marshall, Goodwill's vice president of corporate relations. The bags included blankets, socks, towels, winter clothing, toiletries and food.

The Golden Angel Tree Program is funded through community donations and the sale of $1 "Golden Angels" at each Goodwill store.
