Bluffton Self Help vignette for Dec. 26

Published: December 25, 2012

A family with two girls, ages 3 and 8, on a tight budget took in a young mother who was going through a divorce and had just lost her job.

She didn't have a car, and she didn't have any money to buy Christmas toys for her 3-year-old daughter.

The call for help came to Bluffton Self Help just days before Christmas. The agency made sure all three children received new bikes and a bag of toys. A sponsor from Sun City Hilton Head was matched with the family to purchase clothing for all three children.

Bluffton Self Help provides a broad range of social services for poor working families, the disabled, sick and elderly.
