SERVPRO of Beaufort County has donated $15,000 to the American Red Cross of the Lowcountry to assist 12 Lowcountry families whose homes were damaged or destroyed this year by fire.

The gift is the largest of its kind in Beaufort County for the Red Cross's Heroes for Fire Victims Campaign, philanthropy director Gordon Robertson said.

Since July 1, the local Red Cross has assisted 155 victims of home fires in Beaufort, Hampton and Jasper counties, and is on pace to assist 24 percent more home fire victims than last year, Robertson said.
