Former Hilton Head Prep quarterback Michael Hermann looks to pass in a 2006 game with Thomas Heyward Academy.

Hilton Head Prep product Mike Hermann has earned an invitation to the inaugural S.C. College All-Star Bowl.

The game will be played at 3 p.m. on March 23, 2013 at North Greenville University. Players from South Carolina colleges and high schools are eligible for selection.

Hermann played quarterback at Division III RPI, where he completed 60 percent of his passes for 2,366 yards and 23 touchdowns with eight interceptions. On the ground, he rushed for 510 yards and seven touchdowns with a long of 88 yards.

In all, Hermann accounted for nearly 79 percent of RPI's total yardage this season and was named the Liberty League's Offensive Player of the Year for the second straight year.

At 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds and sporting a 4.64-second 40-yard dash time, he has attracted the attention of NFL scouts.

South Carolina defensive end Devin Taylor, a former Beaufort High standout, Bluffton's Jordan McDonnell, a Newberry fullback who transferred from Charleston Southern, and Thomas Heyward Academy's Taylor Malphrus, a North Greenville University wide receiver, are also on the event's watch list.

Players from schools south of Interstate 20 will play for the Lowcountry team coached by longtime S.C. State coach Willie Jeffries, while players from north of I-20 will play for the Upstate team coached by former Clemson coach Danny Ford.

The final roster of two 50-player teams will be announced in January.
