Guns might not kill, but they make it easier

info@islandpacket.comDecember 21, 2012

Many years ago, we were taught the intent of the Founding Fathers when they put pen to paper for the Second Amendment: Citizens had the right to keep and bear arms to ensure the country's defense in the event the British returned.

I wonder if they gave any thought to the possibility that such incidents as Newtown 2012, Aurora 2012, Fort Hood 2009, Virginia Tech 2007 and Camden 1949, among other mass shootings, could happen. Those who say guns don't kill people, people kill people fail to realize that guns sure make it a lot easier.

Could Adam Lanza, the alleged Newtown shooter; Major Nidal Hasan of Fort Hood; Seunh-Huo Cho of Virginia Tech; or Michael McLendon of Alabama have accomplished what they intended to do with a knife, a club or any independent murder device or indirect weapons? Probably not.
