LADY'S ISLAND STUDENT SETS AMERICAN WEIGHTLIFTING RECORDS

Lady's Island Middle School student CJ Cummins recently won a silver medal in the American Open, an adult weightlifting meet.

Cummins, competing at a body weight of 119 pounds, set eight American records during the event, which was held Nov. 30 through Dec. 2 in Palm Springs, Calif. As a result of his placing at the tournament and his total weight lifted, he became the top-ranked lifter in the United States for all 17-and-under competitors for the Youth World Team.
