Penn Center nativity scene set Sunday

info@islandpacket.comDecember 14, 2012

The annual live nativity scene at Penn Center on St. Helena Island will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the Frissell Community House.

Produced annually since 1971, the nativity scene was developed from the Penn School's "Mystery Play," a Christmas drama portraying the birth of Christ. The play was performed by members of the former school's staff, students and the community from 1916 to 1953. The nativity scene features some of the same spirituals, carols and staging, with a community cast, according to a news release.

Admission is free. Details: 843-838-2432
