A man accused of charging about $500 to credit cards stolen from a Beaufort home was charged Wednesday after eluding authorities for two and half weeks.
The Beaufort County Sheriffs Office received a tip that Robert Alfred Mallonee was staying at the Econo Lodge at 2227 Boundary St., where he was arrested without incident.
The tip came less than a day after deputies issued a news release stating they believe Mallonee stole credit cards from a home on Chesterfield Lade Drive between Nov. 24 and 26. He was identified on surveillance footage using the cards, according to Sgt. Robin McIntosh.
Mallonee was charged with two felony counts of financial transaction theft, second-degree burglary and three misdemeanor counts of financial transaction card fraud.
He remained in the Beaufort County Detention Center as of Friday night with bail set at $40,000.
