A man wanted in connection with a murder in Florida was arrested Tuesday morning by Ridgeland police after a traffic stop.
Nelson Vargas, 26, of Maitland, Fla., was driving south on Interstate 95 in a white 2012 Chevy Traverse rental truck when officers pulled him over for following another vehicle too closely, according to a news release.
A background check showed Vargas had warrants for first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony in Orange County, Fla. He was arrested without incident and in the Jasper County Detention Center on Thursday awaiting extradition to Florida.
