A 30-year-old Burton woman was charged Tuesday with stabbing her boyfriend three times in the shoulder and chest.
Duval Vincent Charles, 29, called 911 at about 11:30 p.m. Monday from near a home in Independent Village Mobile Home Park on Shanklin Road to report he had been stabbed. Emergency medical workers treated Charles, but he refused to speak with deputies, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report.
Deputies found Charles' girlfriend, La-Keisha Ann Arthur, hiding under the porch outside the home. She gave a written statement that said she didn't know how Charles was hurt, but that they "had a disagreement over the phone" that Charles used to call 911.
Arthur was arrested at about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday and charged with felonious assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. If convicted, she faces at least one and as many as 10 years in prison. She remained in the Beaufort County Detention Center late Wednesday with bail set at $25,000.
