Prep Roundup, Dec. 9: Colvin scores 17 to lead Beaufort High boys to win

Beaufort High 52, Ridgeland-Hardeeville 42: Kendrick Colvin's 17 points helped the Eagles claim a road win.

Otis McClain added 10 points for Beaufort High, which took control early on the way to a 31-19 lead at halftime.

Terrance Frazier scored 22 to pace the Jaguars.

Now 4-0, the Eagles are idle until next Saturday's visit to Battery Creek.

Whale Branch 76, Wade Hampton 46: Simeon Middleton tallied 24 points, 10 rebounds and five assists to lead the Warriors to a lopsided victory.

David Lamb added 12 points and six rebounds for Whale Branch (5-1). Nyquan Smith finished with nine points and nine rebounds, and Denzel Daniel had eight points and 10 boards for the Warriors, who play at Bluffton on Tuesday.

Hilton Head Christian Academy 52, Bible Baptist 46 (2OT): Three players scored in double figures as the Eagles rallied from a 26-17 halftime deficit to defeat Bible Baptist at home in two overtimes.

Brad Meccariello scored a team-high 20 points, Caleb Lewis added 12 and Josh Polk 10 as Hilton Head Christian improved to 4-3.

Chad Boatwright had 14 points to top Bible Baptist.

The Eagles next travel to Hilton Head Island High on Tuesday.

JV: Hilton Head Christian 39, Bible Baptist 17

Wilson Hall 54, Hilton Head Prep 46: The Dolphins held a 38-35 lead going into the fourth quarter but couldn't hold on, dropping their first game of the season.

John Eck finished with 15 points and four assists to lead Hilton Head Prep (5-1). Charlie Wilmot also scored 15 points, and Randy Young pulled down 10 rebounds for the Dolphins, who host Bethesda Day at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Wilson Hall improves to 5-2.


Whale Branch 58, Wade Hampton 26: Three Warriors scored in double figures to help the team win at Wade Hampton.

Kemoni Jenkins had 16 points, Sharrin Reed scored 12 and S'Nitra Mack had a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds for Whale Branch (5-1).

Jonae Riley added eight points and seven rebounds, Kenyada Moultrie had seven points, Cynthia Rivers scored five, and Ruth Thompson grabbed seven boards.

Whale Branch plays at Bluffton on Tuesday.

Ridgeland-Hardeeville 75, Beaufort High 25: Mattie Hibbs finished with 11 points, and Monique Jones had 11 rebounds as the Eagles remained winless on the year.

Beaufort High (0-4) plays at Battery Creek on Saturday.

Hill scored 29 points and Chisholm added 13 to lead Ridgeland-Hardeeville.

Hilton Head Christian Academy 45, Bible Baptist 31: Monica Bundy finished with 17 points, and the Eagles outscored Bible Baptist 26-10 in the second half to get the victory.

Andy Anderson and Audrey Bensch also scored in double figures, with Anderson tallying 12 and Bensch 10.

The Eagles (5-4) will host Ruapehu College (New Zealand) at 4 p.m. Monday.


Beaufort High: The Eagles crowned six champions and brought home the team title at Dutch Fork's 12-team Silver Fox tournament.

Jake Sharp at 106 pounds led Beaufort High's parade of champions. Also winning titles were Michael Holmes (145), Forrest Kimbrell (152), Trey Arant (160), Clint Wright (220) and Tyler Wilson (285).

Wilson squared off in the heavyweight final against teammate Kentrell Seabrook, giving the Eagles the top two finishers at that weight class. William Valentin (132) also was a runner-up. Eric Blakely (170) took third, and fourth-place finishes went to Jay Hawley (120), Connor Gruel (140), Brandon Blackmon (160) and Connor Lundgaard (195).

The Eagles wrestle again Wednesday in a tri-match at Hanahan.

Battery Creek: The Dolphins claimed a pair of champions at Bamberg-Ehrhardt's Red Raider Invitational, as 170-pounder DeAndre Johnson and 195-pounder Isaiah Sloan took individual titles in the 16-team tournament.

Battery Creek's Brian Labean was runner-up at 138 pounds. Taking third for the Dolphins were Jake Bessinger (113) and Jimmy Sanchez (126), and Seth Priester (220) finished fourth.

The Dolphins return to the mat Tuesday in a tri-match at Academic Magnet with Timberland.

Hilton Head High: The Seahawks wrapped up a busy two days at the North Myrtle Beach Duals, finishing 4-4.

Hilton Head High earned wins over South Brunswick, N.C. (60-18), St. James (40-36), Southern Wayne, N.C. (66-18) and Myrtle Beach (60-24). Hilton Head lost to Wando (48-30), Aynor (48-28), Ashley Ridge (45-36) and Carolina Forest (44-26).

Two Seahawks were perfect over the weekend: Label Lewis (138 and 145 pounds) went 8-0, as did senior J.C. Graham (220).

Matt Levy (106) went 7-1, Daniel Tennyson (126/132) was 5-2, Brock Massey (126/132) went 6-2, Martin Duane (170/182) and Ramario Lopez (285) were 4-4, and Mark Entrup (132/138) finished 2-2 for the weekend.
