Storm Soccer Academy team in State Cup field this week at USC Beaufort

Published: December 6, 2012

A group of local soccer standouts will fight for a spot in the State Cup Final Four this weekend at USC Beaufort.

The Storm Soccer Academy's under 17 boys team, which is mostly made up of players from Hilton Head Island, Bluffton and Beaufort high schools, will take on South Carolina United at 1 p.m. this Saturday at USCB's Fin Field for the right to advance to the next round.

The team -- led by Storm Soccer Academy director and Bluffton High assistant coach Dan Waymont -- captured the co-championship of the S.C. Youth Soccer Association Challenge Division, arguable one of the toughest leagues in the state, before beginning its playoff run.

Admission to the State Cup is free.
