The Youth in Government program returned from its Model Legislature and Court conference in Columbia having earned multiple awards: Harrison Dixon, Outstanding Statesman (Senate); Dan Brown, Outstanding Statesman (Senate); Mikyla Houghlan, Outstanding Statesman (Premier Senate); Samantha Perkowski, Outstanding Statesman (Premier House of Reps.); Erin Reichert, Bobby O'Rear Outstanding Adviser award. Dan Brown was selected to attend the Conference on National Affairs in Black Mountain, N.C., with 24 other South Carolina Youth in Government delegates and hundreds from across the country in July. HELPING HANDS
The school is collecting canned, dry and nonperishable food items that will be distributed to the less fortunate residents of Beaufort County. All collected items will be donated to The Deep Well Project and the Franciscan Center at St. Helena in Beaufort. The drive will end Dec. 21.HILTON HEAD PREPARATORY SCHOOL

Student Council members will be selling holiday cards through Dec. 20. The cards will be on sale for $1 in the multipurpose room before school each morning.
ENRICHMENT The Singing Eagles Choir will be holding community holiday performances Thursday at several nursing homes and businesses.
HELPING HANDS The Student Council will hold a coin collection fundraiser for Hurricane Sandy victims. Each classroom will be given a plastic container for the coins. The donations will be given to the American Red Cross.
