Firefighters to present check for young leukemia patient

info@islandpacket.comNovember 28, 2012

The Bluffton Township Fire District will present a check to help a 7-year-old leukemia patient at noon Dec. 5 at Station 35 on U.S. 278.

The money was raised during the district's annual Boston Butts Fundraiser. This year, it will offset expenses for the family of Leo Vannoni, who was diagnosed with leukemia this summer and is being treated at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Leo's mother, Kelly, is a teacher at H.E. McCracken Middle School and had to take off work to care for him.

Because mother and son won't be there, the check will be presented to Leo's aunt and Lili Coleman of Bluffon Self Help.
