Manhunt under way in Bluffton after attempted Fern Lakes burglary

A manhunt is under way in the Bluffton area for one of two suspects in an attempted burglary today in the Fern Lakes subdivision. Beaufort County Sheriff's Office deputies and its K9 unit have been searching off Burnt Church Road since 2:30 p.m. The Sheriff's Office said a homeowner found two burglars in his house on Fern Lakes Drive. The intruders ran. One jumped in a lagoon and swam away. The other could not swim, and the homeowner held him at gunpoint until deputies arrived and made an arrest, according to the Sheriff's Office.
