The central air conditioner in the home of Mary, a 95-year-old native Hilton Head Islander, went out in the heat of summer.

The Deep Well Project sent over a technician, who determined that the compressor was shot. The cost to replace it was more than Mary could afford.

Deep Well purchased a large window-unit air conditioner, and its volunteers installed it for Mary. The heat in the central unit still works.

Deep Well provides a broad range of social services for poor working families, the disabled, the sick and the elderly.
