Over 40 years, the Ella C. White Memorial Scholarship Fund has awarded 699 scholarships totaling $592,500. We celebrated this milestone at our annual dinner Nov. 2 at The Sonesta Resort.

We express our appreciation to our supporters who attended the affair and to our sponsors: Wells Fargo, Hargray, Palmetto Electric Cooperative, Mr. and Mrs. Henry C. Driessen, S.C. Bank and Trust, Marriott Vacation Club and First Federal Bank. With their generosity, we had a successful event.

We thank the following businesses and individuals for their contributions: Amtrak, Amigos, Applebee's, Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, Barnwell Health & Wellness, Camp Hilton Head, Crazy Crab Restaurant, Comfort Inn, Delores Lawyer, Debi Lynes, Eggs N'Tricities, Gigi's Boutique, Green Fish Gallery, Hilton Head Health Institute, Jim 'N' Nick's Barbeque, Judy S. McElynn, Lattitude's, Laura Silberman, Lavon Stevens, Marshland Upholstery, Marquita Willis, Maye River Gallery, Montana's, Park Lane Hotel & Suites, Palmettoes, Palmetto Electric, Palmetto State Bank, Pheobe Driessen, Piggly Wiggly (Bluffton), Pink House Gallery, Olive Garden, Sam's Club, Sonesta Resort, Stein Mart, Randy Young Custom Upholstery, Tanger Outlet, SERG Restaurant Group, Westin Resort and Willie Young Upholstery. We also thank our speaker, Dr. Tonea Stewart; the Sonesta Resort staff; and program participants for helping us to present a wonderful fundraiser.

Our goal is to provide scholarships to Hilton Head Island High School and Bluffton High Schools graduating seniors who meet the criteria. The continuous support of the community helps us to meet this goal and address students' critical need for financial help with college expenses.
