Best thing to do is turn off radio, television

Published: November 23, 2012

In response to a recent letter about watching FOX News and MSNBC, I want to say that people on radio and TV must be controversial or no one pays attention. Can you imagine everyone agreeing with one another? Boring.

Shock radio and TV have been around forever. Even songwriters use curse words to get their points across. People say things like, "Did you hear what so-and-so said," or "I can't wait to hear what they will say tomorrow." Then people run out and say the same dumb things to their friends, thinking it makes sense.

The more outlandish the things said on the airways, the better; ratings rule. Remember, there are few boundaries. One broadcaster calls the president a Communist, while another calls him the greatest.

I don't know when news shows started expressing opinions on things, but it does rile me up, something I don't need after work. Maybe we should turn off those shows and read a book, or go for a walk, make a nice romantic dinner, talk or play games with our kids. We would all be better off.
