I have lived on Hilton Head Island and now in Bluffton for more than 30 years.
I moved here just out of college and fell in love with the Lowcountry's natural beauty and the wonderful beaches. I am saddened and disappointed at the lack of respect for this beautiful area.
S.C. 46 is a scenic highway, and every time I drive down the road, I cringe at the amount of garbage along the roadside. I am embarrassed and ashamed of our behavior.
To preserve the natural landscape of our wonderful area, we cannot allow folks to continue to litter with no consequences. Although I volunteer to pick up litter on a regular basis, it does not solve the underlying problem. Are we enforcing anti-littering laws? What can we do to educate people on this matter? Help.
