An SUV overturned during a crash at 8 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Bluffton Parkway and Simmonsville Road, and its driver and passenger were sent to a local hospital, where they were treated and released.

A Toyota Pathfinder turning left onto Simmonsville Road hit the driver's side of a Ford SUV traveling through the intersection on westbound Bluffton Parkway, according to Lt. Joe Babkiewicz of the Bluffton Police Department.

The SUV rolled onto the sidewalk, and two people inside were taken by ambulance to Hilton Head Hospital, where they were soon released, Babkiewicz said.

The Pathfinder driver was cited with failure to yield the right of way. The accident backed up traffic for about 45 minutes as the Bluffton Township Fire District cleared the scene.
