Humanitarian award nominees sought

The Italian-American Club of Hilton Head Island is accepting nominations until Dec. 1 for its inaugural John Calamari Humanitarian Award.

Established in memory of one of the club's founders, the award will recognize those who demonstrate "significant devotion to community service and human welfare."

Nominees must be residents of Hilton Head or Bluffton and noted for: Aiding those less fortunate, improving local residents' lives, or making a significant difference to a club, organization, or individual. The winner will receive $1,000 to be donated to a chosen charity.
