Palmetto Dunes hosts annual Carmines tennis tournament this weekend

Palmetto Dunes Tennis Center is hosting the David M. Carmines Memorial Tennis Championships this weekend. The tournament, for juniors and adults, starts today and runs through Sunday.

The proceeds go to the David M. Carmines Foundation and will benefit the Hilton Head Island Recreation Center, the American Cancer Society and the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

For juniors, the event is USTA sanctioned, and there are Boys and Girls 12s-18s, singles and doubles on clay courts. Boys and Girls 8s and 10s will play the Quick Start format on hard courts.

For adults, the event is not USTA sanctioned, and there are men's and women's singles and doubles for 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0 and Open and 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, 9.0 and 10.0 for combo mixed doubles.
