Burton mobile home fire displaces family of 3

Published: November 14, 2012

Minor exterior damage from a fire displaced a family of three from its Burton mobile home Wednesday.

The Burton Fire District was called to the property at about 11:35 a.m. and remained for about three hours, according to Battalion Chief Debora Lewis. Firefighters limited the damage to the front-porch area, Lewis said.

Most of residents' belongings inside the home weren't damaged, but they will have to repair the exterior before living there again, Lewis said.

Volunteers from the Red Cross of the Lowcountry provided the family with funds for temporary housing, food and clothing.
