A 67-year-old woman reported that a man snatched her purse Tuesday night in the Northridge Plaza parking lot on Hilton Head Island.

When the woman opened her car door, a man pushed against it, knocked her off balance, yanked her purse from her shoulder and ran away, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

A K-9 unit located the purse and most of its contents nearby, with only a small amount of cash missing, a news release said.

The suspect was not found. He is described as black, in his mid-20s, about 5-feet-10, 160 pounds and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
