A 63-year-old Bluffton man was charged Friday with sharing child pornography on the Internet, according to the Bluffton Police Department.

Dennis Keith Bennet faces three charges of sexual exploitation of a minor. He has been released on his own recognizance from the Beaufort County Detention Center.

A Berkeley County Sheriff's Office detective, who is part of the Internet Crimes Against Children task force, located Bennet during an investigation of peer-to-peer file-sharing of child pornography, Bluffton police Lt. Joe Babkiewicz said.

Shared files were traced to the IP address of a computer in Bennet's home.

The Berkeley detective notified Bluffton police, who searched the home on Evening Tide Way and arrested Bennet.

Babkiewicz said computers were seized and sent to the S.C. Law Enforcement Division for analysis.
