A 63-year-old Bluffton man was charged Friday with sharing child pornography on the Internet, according to the Bluffton Police Department.
Dennis Keith Bennet faces three charges of sexual exploitation of a minor. He has been released on his own recognizance from the Beaufort County Detention Center.
A detective with the Berkeley County Sheriffs Office who is part of the Internet Crimes Against Children task force located Bennet during an investigation of peer-to-peer file-sharing of child pornography, said Bluffton police Lt. Joe Babkiewicz. Shared files were traced to an IP address of a computer inside Bennets home. The Berkeley detective notified Bluffton police, who searched the home on Evening Tide Way and arrested Bennet on Friday afternoon.
Babkiewicz said laptops and computers were seized and sent to the S.C. Law Enforcement Division for analysis.
