Parking lot dispute lands armed man in jail

A North Charleston man was arrested Saturday after he allegedly showed a pistol during an argument with people crossing a parking lot at 1500 Queen St. in Beaufort.

Kenneth Thessolonian Wright, 51, was charged with unlawful carrying of a pistol and was released from jail after posting bail.

Wright was driving through the parking lot about 3 p.m. when a group walked into his path, according to Beaufort Police Chief Matt Clancy. Wright yelled at them to move, but one of the walkers said there was plenty of room for him to pass.

Wright got out of his vehicle with a .45-caliber pistol in his hand, although he did not point it at the pedestrians, police said. He attempted to flee when police arrived.
