Published: November 11, 2012

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is seeking re-accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, a process that includes an on-site assessment and a public meeting.

Residents and employees can share comments on the Sheriff's Office compliance with CALEA standards at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Sheriff's Office training room, 2001 Duke St., Beaufort.

They also can comment by phone from 1 to 4 p.m. Nov. 20 at 843-255-3276 or submit written comments to the commission at 13575 Heathcote Blvd., Suite 320, Gainesville, Va.

To be re-accredited, the Sheriff's Office must meet standards regarding policies and procedures, administration, and support services. The Sheriff's Office earned its CALEA accreditation in July 2010.
